Rise and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2011, 2014)

I haven’t seen many movies in 2014, but I did see the sequel to the 2011 re-make of the Planet of the Apes. And I wasn’t disappointed; the movie was gripping from the first scene to the last. Which is quite a feat for director Matt Reeves considering the length of the movie and the extended parts with no human dialogue.

I thought the 2011 instalment was pretty good, but this went one better! I’d heartily recommend both to anyone.

Here are some trailers to whet your appetite:

First, Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)

And now for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)

How about you guys? Have you had a 2014 favourite?

Do share. I’m all ears.

As ever,

Val

p.s. I won’t deny that seeing Keri Russell on screen and thinking “boy it has been a while” made me feel a bit old… #borninthe80s #90skid

p.p.s. I just googled Matt Reeves and had a mini eureka moment – so that‘s why he casted Keri Russell. Well I’m glad. It has been a while.
