The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 (2014)

And the first trailer is out! This is the franchise I’ve been most keenly following in the last two years. And I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I am for this first instalment of the third book, which happens to be my favourite. Click for IMDb page.

Here’s the first look at the beginning of the end (sorry, couldn’t resist it!):

And here are the previous two promos:

The Hunger Games are the only film adaptations of books I really like that haven’t (so far) disappointed me. There are others who disagree, but I honestly think they’ve done a marvellous job putting the story to life on the big screen.

My affinity with the franchise is only made stronger by the fact that I discovered it in Paris. I hadn’t read the books then, but the hype surrounding the first movie was so intense that it piqued my curiosity. So when I found myself in Bercy village one fine afternoon with time to kill, I went into the UGC Ciné Cité (incidentally a very good place to go for movies if you’re on a tight budget) and bought myself a ticket. And ain’t I glad I did!

What are your thoughts on the franchise? Excited for the Mockingjay? Not too bothered?

Do share. 🙂

  1. To be honest, can’t be fussed. I think the movies are totally overrated.
Also, its more of a fashion platform for Jean Paul Gaultier and Steve Madden, rather than a proper movie :p

    1. Hahahhaha valid point re: fashion platform. To be fair, my love for the movies might well be due to me being under the Paris and JLaw spell. The franchise will forever be associated with my magical year abroad, and I’m completely in love with that girl’s screen presence!

      1. Haha fair enough. And it makes complete sense. I myself have associated many movies with being overseas. Mine was mainly the harry potter series and my stint in the UK. Oh and Emma Watson and I had a short fling 😉
